Hughes Mechanical Consulting works across British Columbia and Alberta, on commercial and institutional buildings. Allan Hughes has more than 30 years in mechanical design consulting and has seen hundreds of installations through to completion in both provinces.
Restaurants and commercial kitchens, offices and retail, medical and dental facilities, fitness facilities, and institutional and new construction projects. Every building type carries its own demands, from the high-ventilation requirements of a working kitchen to the precise climate control a dental suite depends on, and the design has to answer them.
Yes. We design HVAC and commercial kitchen ventilation, plumbing — domestic water, sanitary and drainage — and natural gas piping for kitchens, heating and building services, with every run sized, routed and documented for approval.
Yes. BC and Alberta code compliance is built into the design from the start, and we issue permit drawings and specifications that contractors can price and build from. Through permits and construction we stay alongside the team, answering questions and reviewing changes as they come up.
Both. On renovations and tenant improvements, new systems are designed to work with the existing building and scoped to budget and schedule. On new construction, we are involved from project inception.
Yes. The job is not finished at installation — we follow systems through startup and commissioning, confirming that what runs in the building matches what was designed on paper.
